How to upload a blog post to WordPress?
Branch Avatar

If you are taking your first steps in content marketing and want to know how to upload a blog post to this CMS (Content Management System), you have come to the right article!

Below, we will explain step by step everything you need to know to publish a blog post optimized for SEO on this platform, which is quite intuitive and easy to use.

1.
The first thing you need to do is enter your email address and password in the Login section. Remember that you must first have a domain associated with a hosting account, with a server designed to install this content manager, or you can also choose to purchase a hosting service with WordPress pre-installed.

If you need to download it from scratch, go to the download page to get the latest version. If you have no knowledge of web server configuration, it is recommended that you get help from an expert, although currently the configuration is quite intuitive.

WordPress Login Page

The URL to access the platform administrator is the domain of your website, followed by the “/wp-admin” subfolder. Alternatively, it can also be “/wp-login.php”.

Example: yourcompanyname.com/wp-admin

2. Add a new entry
After logging into your admin, you will see a tool panel on the left. Find the “Posts” option and select “Add New.” Don’t worry about the different versions of WordPress, as the same style has been maintained in the options panel for quite some time.

3. Enter the title
The title should contain the main keyword or phrase that you want to rank for throughout the article. This will also be your H1 meta title, which has a very high relevance at the SEO level of content.

The title cannot be longer than 40 characters. In this case, our keyword is “web development agencies.” The platform will automatically generate a unique URL for this article, which you can use to access it from now on. This URL can be modified, if necessary (remember that a URL must be SEO-friendly).

4. Enter the content of the article
Your article will probably be written in another platform such as Word or Google poland number for whatsapp Doc, so in this step you must copy and paste all the content you want to appear in the article, including subtitles and links. This process can be a bit complex, depending on the amount of content, how it is structured, whether you need to add images with their respective properties, among others.

Another point to consider is adding quotes or author information. WordPress posts allow you to add many tools to make reading more enjoyable, and it is very valid to make use of all of them.

5. Identify H2 and H3
Each blog post divides its content into headings. At a programming level, these headings are called “meta titles.” These are subdivided from H1, H2, H3, up to even H6 (it is highly recommended that you use up to H3). The “H” stands for Heading , and each number identifies the hierarchy that title has, starting with H1, which is saved for the main title of the article.

In the builder these tags can appear as H1, H2, H3 or as “Title 1” “Title 2” “Title 3”.

Select meta titles

Check out this example article where we talk about the 10 best web development agencies in Colombia . Each of the titles talks about an agency. The relevance of each one is important, so each one is an H2.

6. Identify keywords in bold
Bolding keywords is important when uploading an article to WordPress. This helps reinforce your main ideas and tells web crawlers what your content is about.

When writing an article and taking SEO into consideration, it is important to intelligently add bold. This, at the user experience level, will make the content ideal for people to find what they are looking for, and return or stay on the website.

7. Add images
People are more likely to grasp information when it is accompanied by images or videos. Therefore, you should include at least 2 images in your article, which can be an infographic or an illustration.

Adding images in this content manager is easy, but it also depends on the technology used in it. In this case, you should always look for the “Add object” option, which is usually quite visible. There, regardless of the builder used on the site, it will take you to a window where you can choose the image you want.

You will also have the option to upload files. If you need to locate an image from your computer, go to the “Upload Files” tab, right next to the Media Library, and click on the big button with that name.

Window to add images

Follow this same step when adding a featured image to your article. You can also insert images or videos by entering a URL, such as a YouTube link or a photo hosted on Google.
